JAMES CARTER ORGAN TRIO

James Carter-saxophones, Gerard Gibbs-Hammond B3, Leonard King-drums

Since 1988, the year of his explosive debut in New York, James Carter is a musical primal force that never fails to blow away the audience. He does it with his unbridled energy and his powerful sound on all possible saxophones and clarinets (from high to low, as far as the double bass variety). Besides that he is a walking piece of jazz history, the only ‘Young Lion’ that played with Wynton Marsalis as well as with Lester Bowie. He is completely at home with the avant-garde jazz and free funk but is also at ease with classical and mainstream currents like the steaming, bluesy ’tenorgan’ style.
