JAMES CARTER ORGAN TRIO
James Carter-tenor saxophone, Gerard Gibbs-Hammond B3, Leonard King-drums
Before he was twenty years old, saxophonist James Carter played in bands of Wynton Marsalis and Lester Bowie. With his unbridled energy and his mighty sound on all saxes and clarinets (from high to low, as far as the contrabass variation) he goes in all directions, also on his own albums, on which you find the steaming, bluesy ’tenorgan’ style. ‘… the ultimate peacock jazz musician… showing off his gift… with self-conscious gusto and intelligence.’ (The New York Times).
