She has been called ‘Queen Izaline’ and ‘the queen of Antillean music’; Curacao singer Izaline Calister is able to evoke the warmth of the Caribbean with her voice. She won an Edison Jazz and World Music Award with her previous album Speransa. Now she is back with Kandela!, on which she performs Cuban boleros, Brazilian bossa novas and other Latin American dance music in her Papiamentu mother tongue.
