Before vocalist and multi instrumentalist Behsat Üvez moved to the Netherlands he was a member of the Turkish State Ensemble and mainly occupied with traditional Turkish repertoire. Composer and clarinettist Steven Kamperman is specialized in Western improvised music but mediterranean music is a great source of inspiration for him. In Baraná & Co they are surrounded by a choice of impressive improvising musicians: cellist Ernst Reijseger, the Iranian percussionist Afra Mussawissade, trombonist Kees Adolfsen, kaval and ney player Cengiz Baytimur, Balkans pecialist and violinist Monique Lansdorp and the young Turkish vocalist/string player Mehmet Uludag, who also stands out with his remarkable counter tenor. This concert is a part of the series Eigenwijs in collaboration with KIT Tropentheater.
