INTERMISSION: KLAAS HEKMAN/WILLIAM PARKER/WILBERT DE JOODE/HIDEJI TANINAKA

in collaboration with VPRO Radio – VPRO Jazz Live from the Bimhuis

Klaas Hekman-bass sax, William Parker-bass, Wilbert de Joode-bass, Hideji Taninaka-bass

Duke Ellington used to announce bass solos by jokingly calling out ‘intermission!’, because the bass usually got lost in the din of the crowd. With its three double bass players the quartet Intermission emphasizes the lowest sounds and makes them tangible. After a break of several years New Yorkers William Parker and Hideji Taninaka once again meet Wilbert de Joode and initiator Klaas Hekman, who plays bass saxophone. ‘Feel the deep boneshake’ (Downbeat).
