After online editions in 2020 and 2021, inJazz in 2022 again offers a live programme, this time consisting of an evening with four concerts in BIMHUIS and a festival evening in Rotterdam, the following day. InJazz is a Buma initiative to promote recent jazz and jazz-related music made in the Netherlands.
The performances in BIMHUIS tonight and on four stages in Rotterdam on 23 June are open to everyone. In addition to these concerts, InJazz offers a programme for professionals working in jazz music and related genres. The aim is to bring bands, composers and musicians (internationally) to the attention of the public and to share thoughts, ideas and music. More information can be found on injazz.nl.

22.30 – 23:10 Chatlein i su Zumbi
Vernon Chatlein is a composer and a musician of many colours. His InJazz presence has evolved from the research project that he embarked upon while staying in Curaçao during the pandemic. His exploration of an old sound archive called Zikinza led him through the history of Afro-Curaçaoan music, and taught him about its contributors and pioneers. As a first result in 2021, he brought Voices from Letters: Imershón to the stage, a theatrical ode to his ancestors. Chatlein i su Zumbi is the next step, fueled by the mysterious musical style called Muzik di Zumbi. Expect a blend of traditional percussion from Curaçao, embedded in chamber music with elements of jazz.
