In her new band the innovative tenor and soprano saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock plays with her favorite New York musicians, all of them renowned players and band leaders in the international creative music scene. Laubrock’s reputation has grown steadily since her relocation from Germany to London and, 15 years later, New York. She knows how to sound calm and dominant at the same time, and she consciously searches for tension between thoughtful composition and passionate improvisation. ‘Laubrock has a compelling dynamic and emotional range.
