INGRID LAUBROCK ANTI-HOUSE

FEAT. MARY HALVORSON, KRIS DAVIS, JOHN HÉBERT, TOM RAINEY

Ingrid Laubrock tenorsax, Mary Halvorson gitaar, Kris Davis piano, John Hébert bas, Tom Rainey drums

Leading musicians from the New York downtown scene improvise in the band of saxophonist/composer Ingrid Laubrock. ‘Laubrock has a compelling dynamic and emotional range’ (The Wire).

Ingrid Laubrock is a saxophone player of the most adventurous breed. She moved on from Germany to London and eventually found her natural habitat in Brooklyn, where she founded Anti-House. In this group she improvises on tenor and soprano sax alongside her favorite musicians from New York, figureheads in the downtown scene who have all performed as band leaders at the Bimhuis.

As a tenor and soprano sax player, Ingrid Laubrock has the talent to sound calm and dominant at the same time, and she consciously searches for tension between thoughtful composition and passionate improvisation. ‘Laubrock has a compelling dynamic and emotional range. She can be a full-on tenor, or a gently questing or querulous soprano’ (The Wire).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
