This double concert celebrates the release of no less than two albums: Dancing on Water, by the duo of singer Ineke Vandoorn and pianist/keyboardist Jasper van ’t Hof, and The Curious Badger, the solo album of guitarist Marc van Vugt. These performers have a close bond. For example, Vandoorn and Van Vugt have performed as a duo for many years. The albums are released by the label Baixim Records.

Guitarist and composer Marc van Vugt surprised with his first collection of guitar stories on his much-lauded album The Lonely Coyote. The current release The Curious Badger contains a new set of twelve compositions, a continuation of Van Vugt’s guitar adventures. It offers us insight into his rich sonic world. Acoustic guitar music in the tradition of Bill Connors, Ralph Towner, Pat Metheny, and Egberto Gismonti.

Ineke Vandoorn was described by de Volkskrant as ‘the adventurer among Dutch vocal jazz performers.’ With Jasper van ’t Hof she forms a duo that sheds new light on the combination of vocals and piano. Sometimes they surprise us with a delicate dance of an expressive voice with seemingly endless possibilities, and ten virtuoso and sometimes wild fingers. They present an original and varied repertoire that combines subtly interwoven melodies with Indian raga, known songs, and dazzling improvisation. And worthy of the European jazz rock pioneer he is, Jasper van ’t Hof can be heard on electronic keyboards on the single Quiet, which preceded the album Dancing on Water.
