IMPROVEMENTS PETER ZEGVELD, JACQUES PALINCKX, RAOUL VAN DER WEIDE

Three innovative soloists are breaking new grounds in a rapid sequence of short performances. Peter Zegveld does theatrical inventions based on principles of physics. In the past, his ‘visual sound theatre’ caused quite a stir at the Bimhuis. This time, he presents himself with a range of old instruments (trembling table, steam barrel, tooter tree) but also brand new ones (CO2 rhythm box, Claxon organ and marble pole). With acoustic guitar, dobro and lo-fi electronics, Jacques Palinckx produces a soundscape that seems to be the missing link between obscure delta blues and contemporary impro. Momentarily, double bass player Raoul van der Weide has fallen under the spell of the work of illustrious colleague David Izenzon and translates this fascination into ‘solo improvisations with built in uncertainties’.
