The year 2003 is already a glorious year for trombonist/composer Ilja Reijngoud. He won the Deloitte Stimulansprijs 2003 and (for his composition ‘No Substitute’) the prestigious American Thelonious Monk Award. Recently ‘New Arrival’ came out, the debut-CD of his quartet, with whom he plays his own compositions that move between modern jazz, world music and a completely original range of styles.
