For its concert Verdi 2.00 the jazz orchestra I Compani will perform passionate music by Guiseppe Verdi. In 2013 it has been 200 years since this Italian composer was born. He is mostly famous for his operas, of which La Traviata, Rigoletto and Aida are the best known. In his time Verdi was a hero of the people and his most catchy melodies could be heard on the streets.

Jazz ensemble I Compani has already been successful with its own version of the opera Aida. Now they will take the next step by playing music from several operas, in collaboration with pianist Guus Janssen. Verdi proves to be very inspirational for the performers and even leads them towards tango, circus music, mysterious Eastern sounds and wild saxophone growls.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
