HOWARD LEVY & ANTHONY MOLINARO

Howard Levy-harmonica, Anthony Molinaro-piano

An exceptional combination, not just of instruments but also of temperaments: a wizard on the harmonica (a diatonic instrument but chromatically played) who shined in folk-jazz groups of Rabih Abou-Khalil and Bela Fleck and a classical pianist who got a taste for improvising. Their contribution to the opening program of the new Bimhuis in February was sensational. NRC Handelsblad: ‘The sounds that American Howard Levy extracts from his harmonica are miraculous. Sometimes his mouth organ sounds like a violin and sometimes like a trombone, a synthesizer is nothing compared to this’.
