HOLLAND FESTIVAL INSTITUTE FOR LIVING VOICE DAVID MOSS SOLO HAN BUHRS & PALINCKX

Han Buhrs III-vocals, Jacques Palinckx-guitar, Bert Palinckx-double bass, Alan ‘Gunga’ Purves-drums, Donotask-turntables

The Holland Festival offers the travelling voice project Institute for Living Voice its fifth stop after Ghent (2001), Bruges (2002), Antwerp (2002) and Marseilles. Institute for Living Voice aims to break the boundaries between entertainment, classical- and world music, experimental, artistic and traditional vocal techniques by letting outstanding, 21st century, voice artists work together. From post modern bop and electronic hip hop to opera and bel canto, from ‘extended voice’ of the 20th century to traditional folk songs, from cabaret and chanson to extreme voice experiments. Central figures in this Bimhuis edition are voice artists David Moss and Han Buhrs. Moss, artistic leader and initiator of Institute for Living Voice, blends percussion with unheard vocal scores in his solo performances. His colleague, Han Buhrs, chose to perform with Palinckx that manifests itself as some sort of vehicle for a contemporary form of song art with rock mania, the richness of sound of contemporary composition and the flexibility of improvised music.
