HERMINE DEURLOO

FEAT. JESSE VAN RULLER, TONY OVERWATER, JOSHUA SAMSON
Presentatie CD Glass Fish
Hermine Deurloo harmonica, Tony Overwater bass, Joshua Samson percussion/hang
Special guest: Jesse van Ruller guitar

In the hands of Hermine Deurloo the harmonica becomes a fully fledged jazz instrument. Initially inspired by Toots Thielemans she has developed an original sound. She plays her own blend of jazz with such artists as drummer Han Bennink and musicians of the New York downtown-scene. Hermine also performs with large orchestras and can be heard in movie soundtracks. As a member of the Willem Breuker Kollektief she has toured all over the world. With this new band she plays her own music as well as compositions by Tony Overwater. Special guest at this CD presentation is guitarist Jesse van Ruller.

Michael Point in Round Rock Leader (2008): ‘The chromatic harmonica has had very few viruoso performers, especially ones with a creative streak, in its history. Amsterdam’s chromatic harmonica heroine Hermine Deurloo definitely belongs on the small and select list of such artist.’
