Pianist Harmen Fraanje seeks challenges in diversity; he plays in jazz groups with Jesse van Ruller and Eric Vloeimans as well as collaborating with classical pianist Igor Roma and singer-songwriter Charlie Dee. Recently he started playing trio improvisations with Senegalese singer/percussionist Mola Sylla and cellist Ernst Reijseger, on the basis of African songs and compositions of the band members. Sylla and Reijseger have been working together regularly for the past ten years. One of their projects is the soundtrack for the Werner Herzog film Requiem for a Dying Planet.
