THE BAD PLUS

SERIE JAZZ & LISTEN TO THIS

Ethan Iverson piano, Reid Anderson bas, David King drums

The American jazz trio The Bad Plus believes that musical rules are there to be broken. Aside from original works the trio plays covers of divergent artists, from Blondie to Nirvana, as well as Stravinsky. These three Americans have an exceptional reputation for their eccentric attitude and their hyper-energetic performances; they’re adored by fans of (indie-)rock, pop, avant-garde music and jazz all over the world. ‘The Bad Plus glories in its unique self-styled idiom; jazz with humor and the power of a rock band’ (NRC).

On their latest CD, Made Possible, which appeared autumn 2012, they stretch the boundaries of their sound, with electronic beats – played live by drummer David King- and influences from minimal music. During this gig they will play a broad selection from their unique oeuvre.

(The previously announced performance of Stravinsky’s Sacre du
Printemps has been cancelled due to restrictions with regard to the
European performance rights for the adaptation of the piece.
)

Before and after the show there will be a sideshow in co-operation with Amsterdam jazz platform TryTone with performances and DJs at the Listen to This café on the Foyer Decks.
