HAMILTON DE HOLANDA
BRAZILIAN SUMMER SESSIONS /// in collaboration with A Hora Do Brasil Foundation
Hamilton de Holanda-10 string mandoline, Gabriel Grossi-harmonica, Daniel Santiago-guitar, Andre Vasconcellos-bass, Marcio Villa Bahia-drums
The mandolin-like instrument bandolim has a special place in Brazilian music history. Hamilton de Holanda is one of the greatest bandolim virtuosos of all time. With his innovative approach the instrument has gained a fresh and contemporary image, like the musical style he plays: the choro. De Holanda transforms this ‘Brazilian tango’ from the early twentieth century to a steaming brew with elements of funk and flamenco.
