GUUS JANSSEN SEXTET HOLLYWOOD O.K. PIECES
Peter van Bergen-clarinet, Vincent Chancey-French horn, Michael Rabinowitz-bassoon, Guus Janssen-piano, Ernst Glerum-basa, Wim Janssen-drums
In Hollywood O.K, six musicians comment on various experiments done by West Coast musicians trying to connect jazz and classical music in the 50’s. Many of them had a day job in the fim music studios of Hollywood, which explains the title of the project. This music, also know as Third stream, stands out by its free instrumentation and rather bizarre explorations of form. Intimacy and color, next to distortion and dislocation are key words.
