On Saturday December 8, during the festival Dag in de Branding in The Hague, Guus Janssen will receive the Johan Wagenaar Prize, an oeuvre prize which is awarded every four years to a Dutch composer. Apart from being a leading composer Janssen is also a respected improviser. On Sunday he will play at the Bimhuis with his septet, which is dedicated to the interaction between improvisation and composition. Or as the band leader himself suggests: ‘composition versus improvisation, deep emotion versus great fun, the utmost sophistication versus pandemonium.’
Bimhuis Restaurant opens at 18:30. After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
