GUUS JANSSEN PIANO SOLO

Guus Janssen-piano

Last night Guus Janssen played piano in the Kleine Zaal in the Concertgebouw in the mysterious ‘third stream’-compositions by Johnny Carisi and Gunter Schuller with the ASKO Ensemble led by Werner Herbers. Earlier this month he play harpsichord in the Waalse Kerk to pieces by 15th century composers John Bull and William Byrd with the recorder quartet Brisk. Last month, Verstelwerk (Mending) his composition for symphony orchestra was performed in Carnegie Hall (New York) and he played in the local jazz clubs. Tonight he will be improvising his own music, with nothing holding him back and with a chance all those recent performances may resonate in his playing.
