Improvisation masters Guus Janssen and Han Bennink rarely perform together. In the closing concert series atthe old Bimhuis the pianist and the drummer played a spectacular set, which was released on the CD Groet.Judging by the recording the gig promises to be a real treat: lightning fast swing, boogie-woogie turned inside out and breathtaking improvisational duels. ‘There’s the requisite irony, but for the most part, Janssen and Bennink maintain a seriousness of intent that does justice to their considerable abilities’ (Jazz Times).
