GORDON GRDINA TRIO MICHAEL BATES OUTSIDE SOURCES

Gordon Grdina and Michael Bates are exceptional talents from the forward-looking Vancouver jazz scene. Grdina excels at guitar and oud, the Eastern lute. With Paul Motian and mentor Gary Peacock he recorded the CD Think Like The Waves. ‘Grdina is a voracious listener drawing on Arabic Classical music… there’s something revelatory about the album’s unflinching hypnotic core’ (Downbeat). Dave Douglas was so impressed by the group Outside Sources that he released their new album Clockwise on his label Greenleaf.
