GLERUM OMNIBUS

Ernst Glerum bas, Timothy Banchet piano, Jamie Peet drums

Glerum Omnibus displays the versatility of double bassist Ernst Glerum (ICP Orchestra, among others). Swing, bop and soul jazz, with predominantly original compositions. ‘Vital and accessible’ (de Volkskrant).

Until recently, Ernst Glerum played piano in his Omnibus trio. Now he’s back at his main instrument, the double bass, giving way to young pianist Timothy Banchet, who’s being recognized all over as a ‘super talent’, with ‘the whole jazz tradition in is back pocket’ (Jazzenzo). Drummer Jamie Peet ‘lifts the music into the 21st century with his hip-hop and breakbeat-esque licks’ (de Volkskrant). Their recent album Handful sounds vintage and contemporary at the same time, a fluent mixture of swing, bop, soul jazz and even an Indonesian traditional.

Ernst Glerum is a mainstay in Dutch jazz and improvised music as the double bassist in, among others, ICP Orchestra and the Benjamin Herman Trio. ‘Glerum always remains curious, especially while playing with these young fanatics. With Handful he presents a truly contemporary version of jazz in a piano trio format’ (Groene Amsterdammer).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
