Young master pianist from Italy, who was discovered by Enrico
Rava. His international trio has released two albums on quality label
ECM.
Pianist Giovanni Guido from Foligno, Italy, was
discovered at a young age by trumpet player Enrico Rava and was
immediately taken up in the band of his famous fellow Italian. Guidi’s
own music is melodic and simultaneously elusive, with influences of
jazz, blues and classical piano music. His trio fulfills all
expectations, with for example two albums on the renowned ECM label:
City of Broken Dreams, and recently, This Is the Day.
‘One hears
the influence of Monk, Tristano and Chopin in a constant narrative
tension, executed with a delicate touch and an abundance of ideas’ (All
About Jazz).
