GILAD ATZMON & ORIENT HOUSE ENSEMBLE
Gilad Atzmon sax, Frank Harris piano, Eddie Hicks drums, Yaron Stavi bass
The Orient House Ensemble from London knows how to build a party atmosphere, but also how to move and shock audiences with its challenging mix of jazz and music from the Middle East. Leader Gilad Atzmon developed his overwhelming saxsound as part of the Blockheads, the band that backed the legendary punk singer Ian Dury. For the past ten years and on every conceivable kind of sax, he has been leading his own band into extremes, from placid ballads to ecstatic solos. ‘Atzmon combines thrilling jazz musicianship with a maverick political intelligence’ (The Guardian).
