Afro-American music, electronica, video art, poetry, song and dance come together in the shows of saxophone player Ghasem Batamuntu. His ‘multimedia performance arts concepts’ (MPAC) can be placed in the tradition of Jazz and Poetry, where artists from different art forms improvise in continuously shifting line-ups. The sessions initiated by Batamuntu are inspired by jazz, P-Funk, hip-hop and science fiction. Very often the Amsterdam based Californian plays with local artists, but he also jammed with David Murray, Pharoah Sanders and Archie Shepp.
