During their thirty year long career the members of Dutch punk band The Ex have developed a great fondness for Ethiopian music. With his raw style, reminiscent of Albert Ayler, saxophone player Getatchew Mekuria has a special place in their hearts. A dream came true when it turned out that the musician who was born in 1935, was willing to play with them on their second tour in Ethiopia. This collaboration resulted in the album Moa Anbessa, which was distributed freely on cassette in Addis Abeba. The Ex will also perform with a new singer, Arnold de Boer, previously with the Amsterdam-based indie rock band Zea.
