With Mongomania, Venezuelan percussionist and band leader Gerardo Rosales pays a tribute to the Havana born Latin percussionist Mongo Santamaria (1922) who is known for his work with Tito Puente, Cal Tjader and his own bands. ‘I have admired Mongo since I was a little boy. It is because of his work that the conga drum has such an essential place in the music of today.’ says Rosales.
