GERALD CLAYTON TRIO

Gerald Clayton piano, Joseph Sanders bas, Pete Von Nostrand drums

Pianist Gerald Clayton is known for accompanying celebrities such as Roy Hargrove and Diana Krall, and now he can be called a star himself, as the number one in the Downbeat Critics Polls, in the Rising Star Piano category.

Gerald, who was born in The Netherlands, grew up with swing thanks to his dad, the American bassist and arranger John Clayton. His own generation’s hip-hop is another strong influence audible in his adventurous compositions and improvisations.

His recent Life Forum is seen as Gerald Clayton’s most ambitious album. The foundation was laid once again by Joe Sanders and Justin Brown, his steady rhythm section as well as his close neighbors in New York. ‘One of the top emerging trios. They display deep musical rapport and facility with everything from swinging standards to a heady mix of time signatures’ (NY Daily News).
