GENE CARL BAND

Pianist Gene Carl presents his CD Pink Chinese Restaurants with a program including the eponymous cantata, a wondrous mix of jazz, pop and classical music. The vocal work, which was based on the poetry of artist Marshall Reese, will be performed by baritone Ken Gould and an adventurous ensemble with Dutch top Dutch improvisers. For years Gene Carl has been performed performing the music of Louis Andriessen (Hoketus) and Simeon ten Holt (Canto Ostinato) for years and he revised reworked pop songs by, among others, such artists as My Bloody Valentine, Joy Division and Brian Wilson. ‘The music of Gene Carl… is funny, challenging, engaging’ (Keyboard Magazine).
