GARY LUCAS & JOZEF VAN WISSEM

Former guitarist with Captain Beafheart and Jeff Buckly, draws from various sources for his solo concerts: rock, folk, blues, jazz or Chinese pop music from half a century ago. Van Wissem plays original compositions for lute, based on musical reflections and adds electronics to distort the serene sound. Outside their solo programs, Lucas and van Wissem perform pieces of their CD’s ‘Diplopia’ and ‘The Universe of Absence’ in a duo setting. ‘With Lucas’ assembly of guitars and Van Wissem’s lute, you’ve entered a wild string heaven’ (Downbeat, april 2005).
