FWOR

Essentially an ode to persiflage, this quintet’s stylistic range stretches from surf rock covers to obscure post-bop standards, classical homages, and originals. Formed last summer by Yergali, an unsuccessful skateboarding filmmaker, and Dennis, a reclusive math prodigy, together with three fellow students from the Amsterdam Conservatory: Sebastien, Evan, and Lachy. With only three shows under their belt, they’re about to make their debut at our venue.

LACHY HAMILTON’S YEAHNUPTET

YeahNuptet is the brainchild of Australian saxophonist Lachy Hamilton and consists of some of Amsterdam’s most creative improvisers. Rooted in the tradition of Black American Music, the band continually explores new territory with playfulness and close mutual chemistry. They play compositions and arrangements by Hamilton himself, interspersed with work by Duke Ellington, Duke Pearson and Judy Bailey, among others. Each show is fresh, surprising and full of musical energy – a band not to be missed.
