Things moved pretty swiftly for super-trio Free Form Funky Freqs, which includes Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid. Last year, Reid played his first session with bassist Jamaaladeen Tacuma and drummer G. G. Calvin Weston, who as teenagers played with Ornette Coleman’s Prime Time. This spontaneous live show immediately led to a European tour and a CD, Urban Mythology: Volume One, which was released this year. Their mix of futuristic free funk and rock sounds like they have been collaborating for years.
