Invited by the New Jazz Festival Moers, Frank Gratowski founded his all star Double Quartet in 2003. The line up, two times drums, two basses and four wind instruments reminds you of Ornette Coleman’s legendary album ‘Free Jazz’ but Gratowski doesn’t reconstruct the music, although, like Coleman, he writes organic compositions, melodic and peculiar at the same time, the kind of pieces that induces a trance.
