Fleurine-vocals, Jesse van Ruller-guitar, Johan Plomp-bass, Sebastiaan Kaptein-drumsTen year anniversary with special guests: Brad Mehldau-piano, José Lopretti-bass guitar, Ben van den Dungen-tenor saxophone, John Engels-drums
Ten years ago, before she moved to New York, vocalist Fleurine founded a band with Jesse van Ruller and Johan Plomp. Since her debut CD ‘Meant to be’ (best sold Dutch jazz album of the 90’s) she made an international career. Tonight, Fleurine celebrates the 10th anniversary of her band with a new CD, ‘Fire’. Various guest musicians she worked with in the past years will reinforce the trio: pianist Brad Mehldau, drummer John Engels, tenor saxophonist Ben van den Dungen, bass player/composer José Lopretti and drummer Sebastiaan Kaptein. Fleurine is one of the most striking vocalists coming from the Netherlands with a repertoire that is an adventurous mixture of original work, original lyrics to music of Monk and Metheny (to name a few) and Brazilian and jazz arrangements of contemporary songs.
