JOSÉ QUEVEDO ‘BOLITA’, DANI DE MORÓN
Saturday24 January 2015

Guitar players of the new generation pay tribute to Paco de Lucía, the legendary master guitarist and flamenco innovator who died last year.

A night full of beauty and strings by two rising stars of ‘el toque moderno’, the modern flamenco guitar. They will each honor grandmaster Paco de Lucía, who died suddenly in February 2014. José Quevedo ‘Bolita’ and Dani de Morón both opted for a surprising line-up with just percussion, on instruments and hands.

Bolita’s guitar resonates the ambience of his birth place Jerez de la Frontera, which is saturated with flamenco. His debut album Fluye was voted best flamenco album of 2013 by Spanish newspaper El País. Bolita has also produced albums for great singers like Miguel Poveda and Marina Heredia.

Daniel Méndez, also known as Dani de Morón, will be supported by no less than four hand-clappers (‘palmeros’). He will perform brand new themes from his upcoming second album, in a first performance. He grew up in guitar stronghold Morón de la Frontera and was influenced by the legacy of the great Diego del Gastor, which underlies Morón’s typical rhythmic style. But above all, de Morón himself insists, his music reflects the wise words spoken by Paco de Lucía, with whom he played on the international tour of his album Cositas Buenas: ‘There is not just one path, but infinitely many. Find your own.’

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
