FERENC KOVÁCS BELI BUBA

In May of this year the Hungarian saxophonist Mihály Dresch played the Bimhuis with his own quartet and made a deep impression on the listeners. Dresch counts, like violist and trumpeter Kovács, as one of the heavy weights of jazz in Hungary. At the end of May, in interplay with cymbalist Miklos Lukács, a sound palette of force and nuance was born. This dialogue will be continued, this time with famous cymbalist Kálmán Balogh. On the album Beli Buba, Kovács mixes traditional Hungarian folk with influences from jazz and classical music and thus creates a new, contemporary sound.
