Coen de Jonge – Presentation
Big names from Dutch jazz pay tribute to Bob Hagen, founding father of Jazz Impuls, who celebrates his 85th birthday this year. With unparalleled effort he has brought jazz into the theaters of The Netherlands by organizing 1200 Jazz Impuls concerts in 8 years. Singer Fay Claassen initiated this versatile concert and together with the BIMHUIS she compiled a program featuring many well-known jazz musicians, from vocalists such as Janne Schra and Wouter Hamel to instrumentalists such as Ack van Rooyen and John Engels. Hosted by Coen de Jonge.
In 2007 Bob Hagen won the first BUMA Jazz Industry Achievement Award. The jury praised him for his unstoppable drive and his positivity. With Jazz Impuls he has also supported high quality CD recordings by up-and-coming talents. Hagen has also joined many other jazz initiatives, with the aim of developing and promoting Dutch jazz.
