FAY CLAASSEN
FAY CLAASSEN
- Starts
- 20:30
Jazz vocalist Fay Claassen brings an ode to her young daughter with songs by, among others, John Lennon, Billie Holiday and herself. ‘Elegant and graceful’ (Cadence).
Following an Edison, a Gold Record and various other awards, Fay Claassen fulfills a personal wish with Luck Child. The album is an ode to youth and her young daughter in particular, with songs by John Lennon, Paul Simon, Billie Holiday and others, alongside her own compositions. With her strong vocal personality, Fay offers a new perspective on these songs.
Fay Claassen is internationally renowned for her remarkable voice. She collaborated with, among others, Bob Brookmeyer, Mike Stern and Kenny Wheeler. The American Scat Omni Book, which encompasses transcriptions of vocal improvisations by the likes of Kurt Elling and Sarah Vaughan, also includes a Fay Claassen improvisation, the sole European contribution.
‘Fay Claassen is to singing what Audrey Hepburn was to the movies: elegant and graceful’ (Cadence).
