Fanfare Ciocarloa is the leading group of gipsy brass bands in the Balkans. In their East-Romanian village the density of brass bands must be the highest in the world: every single person of any age plays at least one wind instrument. Within living memory the repertoire is passed on to the next generation. The musical instruments also go on from father to son. The brass lost its shine but got a characteristic sound in return. The traditional repertoire becomes a musical feast with complex rhythms and amazing timing in the skillful hands of Ciocarlia.
