TryTone, a collaboration between young musicians from Amsterdam, organizes its 6th European TryTone Festival on October 21, 22 and 23 in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Tilburg. Again, the festival contains a highly interesting selection of contemporary European improvised music. Six interesting European ensembles will perform at the Bimhuis; from France comes the François Raulin Trio, a group that developed improvised chamber music to perfection. This is in contrast with Matthias Müller Bhavan, a young trombone player from the German industrial Ruhrgebiet, who performs urban, rough music. The international collective Osmosis was founded by violinist Oene van Geel as a result of a composition commission from the Groningen festival Marathon. Polish saxophonist Adam Pieronczyk, often described as a great promise for Polish jazz, presents himself with his new quartet Amusos, emphasizing on live electronics, contemporary music and improvisation. Bits&Pieces from German piano player Jürgen Friedrich moves in the area of tension between electronics and acoustic jazz. The French/Belgian quartet of David Linx and Diederik Wissels has been a part of the absolute top of the European jazz. Vocalist David Linx, possessing incredible vocal techniques and a velvet sound, has developed an almost telepathic understanding with co bandleader Diederik Wissels. For more information: www.trytone.org and the festival folder.
