Turkish ensemble Istanbul Solistleri delves into the classical music history of
Turkey, beyond Islamic music. Featuring the leading ney and tanbur
player Murat Salim Tokaç.

Murat Salim Tokaç is a renowned
player of the ney, the Arabic flute, and the tabur, the Eastern lute.
He leads an ensemble with leading Turkish musicians.

Turkey has a
versatile classical music tradition. Alongside Muslims many different
ethnic groups have expressed their culture in Turkish classical music.
This program brings together compositions by the most prominent
composers of Greek, Armenian, Jewish and other ethnic and religious
origins.

The Bimhuis restaurant
is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via
020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free
entrance).
