A festive concert that shines a spotlight on the queens of música guajira – the female songwriters from the Cuban countryside who wrote many great songs over the years. Estrella & Esquina 25 perform their own version of this repertoire, combined with Estrella’s original songs, in adventurous arrangements.
Estrella, born in Havana, became well versed in jazz and Brazilian music during her world travels, yet she never stopped singing the music of her motherland. With her all-star international band, Esquina 25, she presents a fresh take on the music of Cuba. In performance, their joint experience in Latin music, jazz styles and improvisation brings out the dynamic character and spirit that is the essence of Cuban music. Esquina 25 has been performing since 2004 in many well-known venues in the Netherlands and abroad, including the USA and Canada. In 2017, they completed a successful theater tour with the project, Mujeres de Luna.
After the concert you can dance on Cuban salsa music organized by Salsa District. With or without experience, it’s fun for everyone.
