Singer and double bass player Esperanza Spalding exceeds all expectations with her new album Chamber Music Society, on which she performs sparkling souljazz with classically tinged arrangements. Her new ensemble is a natural mix of jazz quartet and string trio. The 25 year-old American artist received her classical training at Berklee College of Music and she accompanied legendary artists like McCoy Tyner and Joe Lovano. With sold out Bimhuis gigs in 2008 and 2009 she confirmed her reputation as a star of the new jazz generation.
