More than ten years after his first solo CD, “Colla Parte,” Ernst Reijseger is now set to release his second. In the meantime the cellist made CDs with many different artists from jazz, classical and non-Western music traditions. The new solo pieces were recorded in unadorned fashion in Tuscany, at a former church with outstanding acoustics. Reijseger, who is praised for his experimental improvisations and unorthodox techniques, returns to pure sounds of his instrument on these new recordings.
