ERNEST DAWKINS TRIO

Ernest Dawkins-tenor saxophone, Harrison Bankhead-electric bass, Hamid Drake-drums

Saxophonist Ernest Dawkins is a part of the Chicago musicians collective AACM of which he has been chairman for many years. He made a name with his pianoless sextet, the New Horizons Ensemble, with which he played everything from free bop to free form and redefined the relationships between hiphop, blues, gospel and jazz in his compositions. Dawkins is a tenor player with a very groovy and soulful sound. In this new trio, bass player Harrison Bankhead and excellent drummer Hamid Drake create plenty of space for the unique sound of Ernest Dawkins.
