ERIC VLOEIMANS’ GATECRASH & JORRIT WESTERHOF / JAZZPORTRETTEN
AFTERWARDS DJ DIDIER JARNEAUX AT THE CAFE
Eric Vloeimans pulls out all the stops with his electric band Gatecrash, featuring Boy Edgar Prize-winner Jeroen van Vliet on keys. Special guest is guitar talent Jorrit Westerhof.
From hypnotic jazz funk to glowing ballads and powerful solos: Eric Vloeimans pulls out all the stops with his electric band Gatecrash. The Dutch trumpeter, a leading figure in European jazz, is renowned for his ‘brilliant tone whose range has constantly expanded over the years’ (de Volkskrant). In Gatecrash he plays with, among others, keyboard player Jeroen van Vliet, this year’s winner of the most important jazz award in The Netherlands, the Buma Boy Edgar Prize.
Special guest is the young guitarist Jorrit Westerhof, who was chosen by Vloeimans for a tour with the Noord Nederlands Jeugd Orkest in 2013. Led by Vloeimans, the orchestra has performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival and at various venues including the Bimhuis.
Before the concert, at 7:45 PM a short documentary (in Dutch) on Eric Vloeimans will be shown within the framework of a large scale series of video portraits of important Dutch jazz
musicians, initiated by the Dutch Jazz Archive. Screening is a part of the 40th anniversary of the Bimhuis, in
collaboration with Dutch Jazz Archive and NPO Cultura.
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6 til 8.30 PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
