ERIC REVIS TRIO FEAT. KRIS DAVIS, JOHN BETSCH
Eric Revis bas, Kris Davis piano, John Betsch drums
Powerful, adventurous improvisations by double bassist Eric Revis, with pianist Kris Davis and percussion veteran John Betsch. ‘Eric’s sound is the sound of doom; big, thick, percussive’ (Branford Marsalis).
Double bass player Eric Revis plays so powerful and self-assured that he sticks out everywhere, on the Grammy Award-winning album Contemporary Jazz by Branford Marsalis as well as in uncompromising improv bands. In this trio he plays with adventurous New York pianist Kris Davis, with whom he recorded the surprising album City of Asylum (Clean Feed). Percussionist John Betsch is active since the 1970s in the ensembles of, among others, Abdullah Ibrahim, Archie Shepp en Steve Lacy.
‘Eric is one of those dudes you ought to follow whether you know where he’s going or not—something gripping invariably happens on the way’ (Village Voice).
