Since the 1960s, drummer Eric Ineke has played a major role in the Dutch jazz scene. He will celebrate his 75th birthday in style, with a triple concert and no less than two album releases. The first is a compilation featuring Eric alongside international jazz legends, including Ben Webster, Etta Jones and Piet Noordijk. The second album, Norway, contains recently discovered recordings from the early 1970s by the Frans Elsen Septet. Pianist Frans Elsen (1934-2011) wrote the music inspired by his travels through the wide landscapes of Norway.
Eric Ineke opens the celebrations with a concert dedicated to Norway by his new formation The Frans Elsen Factor featuring Juraj Stanik and Marius Beets, among others. They will be followed by Eric Ineke JazzXpress, with alto saxophonist Tineke Postma as the special guest. Together they recorded the album What Kinda Bird Is This? – The Music of Charlie Parker. Songs from the album will be performed alongside material by another famous alto player, Cannonball Adderley. Finally, the musicians from the first two acts will return on stage for a birthday jam.
